Afghanistan born photographer, Azim Haidaryan is a storyteller by nature. Building on the centuries-old, transgenerational heroic tales that animated his childhood, Azim now conjures allegorical worlds of his own. For his personal work Azim creates his vision from start to finish, as a one man show. With finding talents in exotic countries, creating costumes, & set design, etc - his work is a true representation of his ability to tell a story, and to create art that is different and pushes the boundaries. A theatrical approach lies at the heart of his process as each image he creates reads like a Shakespearean play — fate-bound and fantastical. Returning to the foundations of visual narration, Azim masters form and abundance of colour in their simplest yet most powerful, state. Within this, he crafts a mythology of modern times – his photographic tales are subtle and anchored in reality, as his protagonists constantly hang between the blazing realms of his creativity and the greyness of the concrete upon which they stand.
